Cell Therapy + Us = An Unrelenting Duo
Traditional surgery, chemotherapy and radiation are no longer the only cancer treatments available. Immunotherapy is changing the game by using your body's own immune cells to attack cancer.
The FDA-approved CAR-T cell therapies currently available are for patients with multiple myeloma, lymphoma or leukemia. Patient eligibility varies by product; however, most CAR-T cell therapies are indicated for patients who have either not responded to or relapsed after at least one other type of cancer therapy. Clinical trials are available for some cellular therapy in solid tumor cancers.
- CAR-T Therapy After taking T cells, a type of immune cell from your blood, a synthetic receptor called a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) is added to your T- cells in the lab, and the cells are multiplied. These new T-cells are then infused back into your body to target specific antigens on the surface of cancer cells.
- Natural Killer (NK) Cell Therapy A natural killer (NK) cell is a type of immune cell that looks for any abnormal cells in the body and attacks them. In the lab, NK cells can be multiplied or modified and then infused into your body to help the body better attack cancer cells.
- Tumor-Infiltrating Cells These are immune cells that go from your blood into a tumor to kill cancer cells. They can be taken from your tumor and multiplied in the lab. This larger number of cells is then infused back into your body to boost the immune system's ability to destroy cancer.
- T Cell Receptor (TCR) Therapy Modifies your own T-cells in the lab with a receptor that can target specific cancer cells. These modified cells are multiplied and infused back into your body to attack cancer.
- Therapeutic Vaccines When modified in the lab and delivered as a vaccine, immature dendritic cells, a type of immune cell, can help prompt the immune system to target cancer cells as invaders.
- Bispecific Antibodies These are antibodies that bind two different targets, creating a superior therapeutic effect to monoclonal antibodies and a broader treatment for disease.
